Our History
Makondo Restaurant was founded by a Colombian family to share Latin American food, focusing on Colombian cuisine. It started in 2008 with El Cafetero Bakery in White Plains, NY. The first Makondo opened in Port Chester in 2014, followed by White Plains in 2016, Ossining in 2020 and New Rochelle 2023. Makondo offers a wide range of bakery items and Colombian dishes. Its name honors the fictional town in Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude.
